(Non)belonging Practices: Showcase Exile is a method developed through years of multidisciplinary artistic practice by Ksenia Ravvina, dedicated to exploring exile as a complex and nuanced state of (non)belonging. Grounded in her transnational experience, this approach expands the understanding of exile beyond physical displacement, redefining it as a dynamic process of cultural tension and personal transformation shaped by ever-changing environments. Engaging with the subjectivity of fugitivity and the fluid contours of exile, artistic practices unfold as spaces for escape, resistance and recognition, while the phenomenon of rootlessness emerges as a tool for disrupting entrenched patterns. This method reconceptualizes (non)belonging—both personal and collective—through the intersections of imagination, memory, and lived experience, all of which are reshaped by the conditions of dwelling in unfamiliar or foreign contexts, fostering a distinct artistic language where the poetic and the political are inseparably intertwined.
This method serves as the foundation for a practical course (workshop) aimed at emerging artists and those seeking to critically engage with and deepen their artistic practice. The workshop is built upon a multidisciplinary approach, collaborative equity, and the principles of co-authorship.
